How to Use Cooking Timers (App)

Cooking Timers let you set up to 5 timers at a time, right from Cooking View or the recipe directions.

Last updated on 02 Oct, 2026

Look for the timer icon in the top bar while in Cooking View or in the directions section of the recipe. If you have any active timers running, you'll see the time remaining and a bell icon with a count of how many timers are active (for example, 3:44 🔔 x2).

Tap the timer icon to open the Cooking Timers popover.

Setting a timer

  1. Tap + Add Timer.

  2. Scroll the Hour/Minute/Second wheels to set a custom time.

  3. Tap Start.

Want to rename a timer? Tap the pencil icon next to the timer name (for example, "Timer 1") to label it something more specific, like "Pasta" or "Sauce."

Managing active timers

From the Cooking Timers popover, you can:

  • Pause a running timer

  • Remove a timer you no longer need

You can have up to 5 timers going at the same time.

When a timer goes off

You'll get a haptic buzz and a sound alert when a timer reaches zero, even if you've closed the app or locked your phone screen.

To stop the alert, open the Cooking Timers popover (tap the timer icon) and stop the expired timer.
